The Border Collie breed originated in the regions of the Anglo-Scottish border for the herding of livestock. It is said that the most pure bred Border Collies can be traced back to a dog known as Old Hemp (1893 – 1901). He was a strong, quiet dog, extremely good with sheep, whose working style became known as the ‘Border Collie style’. The Border Collie is often observed to be the most intelligent of all dogs.
Dan is a working sheepdog on the hills of the Holme Valley, West Yorkshire.
