The Staffordshire Bull Terrier, also known as ‘Staffie’, is a medium sized, very muscular dog. They originated in Staffordshire, England. Local terrier type dogs were crossed with Bull Dogs forming the foundations of the breed we know today. These terriers were widely used for bear and bull baiting until 1835 when blood sports of this type were eliminated. In 1935 the Staffordshire Bull Terrier was recognised by the Kennel Club of the United Kingdom. ‘Staffies’ are known to be a lively breed, very affectionate and friendly towards people.
