Description
Blue Tit (Cyanistes caeruleus) BT113
The Blue Tit is a small, colourful bird and can be seen all year round in Britain, with the exception of some areas in the Scottish Highlands. Its main habitats are deciduous woodlands, hedgerows, farmland, parks and gardens. It is a gardener’s friend as it eats seeds, fruits and a variety of insects and caterpillars that may be harmful to garden plants. In April/May the female will lay an egg per day up to a total of 7 – 13 in a clutch. She will then start to incubate for around 2 weeks. The chicks are fed by both parents and will fledge after 19 days.
