Red Foxes are the largest of the world’s 20 fox species and a distant relative to wolves, coyotes and jackals. Their coat ranges through variants of orange/ rusty brown with a white under body, chest and tip of the tail. The tail is large and bushy and used for balance, communication and to keep the nose and paw pads warm during cold weather. Red Foxes are widespread and one of the most versatile mammals, surviving in a variety of terrains including deserts, mountainous regions, countryside and even cities. They will eat almost anything from small animals, birds, insects, fruits and grasses to leftovers from the urban bins. They do not hunt in packs but do live in a social community.
